5 Handy Tool Hacks!

Survival Driver

Sometimes you might want to fix something that needs screws but you find yourself with just screws and no single screw driver. This becomes a problem to most people but with this handy home hack, not anymore.
All you need to do is find any device that plugs into a wall and you are set to go. The spades on the plug can act as screw drivers because they fit so well on wide range of screws. You can use that plug of your phone charger as a screw driver to fix whatever it is that needs fixing with the screw.

Hammer Time

You have both the nails and the hammer but you still can’t fix it because you are scared of getting hurt? Sometimes you can’t hit the hammer on the nail because the nails are too small and they become problematic to hit because you might hit your fingers holding the nails in the process.
To solve this, an ordinary hair comb is a solution. Get the teeth of the comb hold the nail in place and hammer away and perfect, you just nailed it!
Additional hack is applying some hard glue at the back of the hammer, normally at the end on that handle side. On the glue, stick a small piece of magnet on it then hold the nails on the piece of magnet to prevent the nails from getting lost and for convenience purposes.
If you are a forgetful person or a little careless this hack works well for you.

Needle Nosey

If you work involves wires such as working on circuits and you find it hard holding wires (two or more) at the same time to join them, here is a hack for you especially if you don’t haave a clamp for the task. You can make one (a clamp) out of a pair of ordinary needle pliers.
Once you got your wires held together using the pliers, use a rubber band and wrap it around the needle pliers and make yourself a helping hand.

Rust No More

Most tools are made of steel which is a good thing because tools made of steel are strong. But problem is they are subject to rusting. Question is how do you know a tool is made of steel? Simple, if a tool is attracted to magnet, it is subject to rusting. It is not only hard to work with a rusted tool but it is also ugly.

To solve this, most packed electronics devices you buy contain a substance in the box that you don’t normally use. The substance is called silica gel and they serve a purpose of absorb moisture to prevent such moisture from getting inside your device causing moisture related damages.
Now that you know the importance of silica gel, do not throw it away next time you buy a device that comes with it.

To prevent rusting, put these gels in each drawer of your tool box and they will absorb moisture that will prevent your tools from rusting. You can keep your tool ‘new’ for a long period of time by putting silica gel into their right use.

  1. Sleep is very important to human body and you cannot do without it. Sleep is sort of a basic need. You can sleep at night or any time it comes calling which might be early in the morning or in the middle of the day. But there are cases where you might have difficulties sleeping and eats away your health even though you might not notice it.
  2. Research shows that staring at a computer monitor for about 3 hours a day, interferes with your goodnight sleep. To solve this, read a book instead. Computers suppress the melatonin in your body causing sleeping problems. Also avoid phones especially phones with bright screens if you have an early morning.
  3. Distractions in your room are a big hindrance to your sleeping patterns. As a hack, leave all the materials that might deprive you off your sleep in another room. These materials include laptops, phone, magazines, books, and so on. If you have a TV in the room too, unplug it.
  4. Temperatures also affect sleeping patterns. Very low temperatures or high temperatures will cause you not to sleep well. To solve these, make sure the sources of heat in your house are turned off, that is the heaters, TVs, etc and turn on the air conditioner. If that’s not enough, open the window just enough to let in ideal temperature or while covering yourself with that warm duvet, do not completely cover your feet.
  5. If you have a pet around, you can cuddle with it to sleep. Pets work just as well as cuddling with lovers. Cuddles are said to reduce the level of cortisol in the body. Cortisol leads to stress and stress leads to anger which leads to no sleep at all.
  6. Additionally, to deal with lazy mornings in that you are having problems waking up, set your alarm and have it very far away from your bed but make sure it is located where you can hear it when it goes off. You can have it in another room but have it set loud it enough not to ignore it when the time reaches. When you wake up to go switch it off, you will be wide awake for the activities ahead of the day.
  7. If your sleeping problems seem to persist, maybe it is your mattress or your bet. Change any of the two or both if you don’t seem to be comfortable while sleeping because a good sleep requires great level of comfort.
